Common Bathroom Plumbing Problems

Mention the word “plumbing” to a group of people, and we’d wager that the majority of them first and foremost think of their bathroom. This makes a lot of sense, as this is certainly one of the most heavily plumbed rooms in the house, and areas in general. It is also an area where you have up close and personal interactions with your plumbing system via fixtures such as your shower, bathtub, sink, and toilet.

Finally, it is also an area where you are most likely to run into problems with your plumbing. This is partly a numbers game. It may seem like problems with your bathroom plumbing are more common than in other areas but, as mentioned above, it is perhaps the most heavily plumbed of areas in your home. It’s also an issue of wear and tear. You’re using those fixtures every day, right? Here are some common problems that you may encounter with your bathroom plumbing in Spring, TX.

Dripping Faucets

It wakes you up in the middle of the night. Nothing too alarming, just a rhythmic drip, drip, drip. In fact, it’s actually kind of soothing. You close your eyes and ease yourself back to sleep, making a mental note to take care of the problem eventually. No big deal, right?

Wrong. Sure, a dripping faucet is not the most serious problem that you may encounter with your bathroom plumbing system. It’s not one that will send you reaching for the phone after hours to schedule emergency plumbing services. It is one that deserves timely attention, though, as even “minor” water leaks can waste a serious amount of water over time.

Running Toilets

This is troublesome for the same reasons as a dripping faucet, but a constantly running toilet could be wasting water at a much faster rate than a dripping faucet can. There are a few reasons why your toilet may run, and they are not all terribly serious.

First of all, the flapper at the bottom of the tank may just be misaligned, or it may be degraded to a point that water is slipping by. That’s an easy fix. If there is water on the floor around the toilet, though, you could have a crack in the tank itself—not so simple a fix. Take the lid off and check for a simple solution, but when in doubt turn to the professionals on our team.

Accessibility Issues

If you bought a new home that doesn’t meet everyone in your family’s needs, or if you are having family members or friends with physical disabilities come to live with you, then accessibility in the bathroom could be a serious concern.
